Jürgen Ulrich

Prof. Jürgen Ulrich was born in Berlin in 1939. As a child he began to compose. In 1963 he completed his later studies at the Detmold University of Music with the subjects composition, music theory, ear training and piano.
Stations of his professional life were the youth music school in Frankfurt, the pedagogical institute for teacher training at Jugenheim / Bergstrasse, the Bergische Konservatorium Wuppertal and most recently the University of Music in Detmold, where he taught composition, music theory and ear training. He was the head of the training seminar for music school teachers and self-employed music teachers. In 1974 he was awarded the professorship. Jürgen Ulrich died in Bielefeld in 2007. His compositions are for various instrumentations, predominantly chamber music and among them numerous works for plucked instruments. With some of his works, Jürgen Ulrich won composition prices.
