The collection includes eight four-part chorales set, which can be realized not only purely vocal but, according to the contemporary musical practice, in addition to making music melody instruments colla parte. So well-known phrases like “Vom Himmel hoch”, “In dulci jubilu” (2 versions), “Puer natus in Bethlehem” and “Lobt Gott ihr Christen” (Praise God you Christians) characterized by the attractive element of a second voice that often soars out over the melody. The chorale phrases are taken from Volume VI of the collection Musae Sioniae, which appeared in 1609 in Wolfenbüttel.
