A hymn about the beautiful village of Weggis on Lake Lucerne is needed! The new Weggis song is based on the witty and humorous poem ‘Mier Wäggiser’ by Josef Doppmann, supplemented by two hymn-like verses by Markus Wolfisberg.

Commissioned by the community of Weggis for the official celebration of ‘900 years Weggis (1116–2016)’. Fall 2013 Markus Wolfisberg – project manager at ‘Lucerne Tourism’ – comes up with an idea: a hymn about the lovely village on Lake Lucerne is dearly needed! Josef Doppmann’s humorous poem ‘Mier Wäggiser’, full of hidden meanings, becomes the bedrock of the new Weggis Song, completed by two hymnic verses by Markus Wolfisberg.
