Description

A three-movement programmatic work in traditional form and contemporary musical language.

The three movements of the ‘Suite Bergerac’ depict life in and around the city of Bergerac on the beautiful Dordogne River. The first movement (Prelude – Danse) describes how life awakens in the city at sunrise. The second movement (Ballade) describes a morning canoe trip on the river past a picturesque landscape dotted with castles and palaces. Upon returning to the city, the third movement (Gigue) takes us into a lively celebration with music and dancing.
