„Meine Musik ist die atemlose Angst vor der Zeit”
Variations on a Theme by Stefan Monhardt
for mandolin, violin, viola, and cello
“The piece is a variation on time, a variation on meter and ostinato with various ‘aggregate states’ in the form of long-held notes, harmonies, rhythmic layering, and cyclic pitches.” (V. Erdmann-Abele)
Description
arr. by Maren Trekel
In a letter to Professor Marga Wilden-Hüsgen, he wrote: “Music is time, represented by the principle of repetition and change. The piece is thus a variation over time, a variation on measure and ostinato with different “aggregate states” in the form of long-held tones, unisono, rhythmic stratifications and melody roundabouts.”
