The four dances ‘Hertzog Moritz Dantz’, ‘Gut Gsell, du must wandern’, ‘Des Kayser Dantz’ and ‘Ein pollnischer Dantz’ are taken from Ammerbachs “Orgel oder Instrument Tabulaturbuch”, which was published in 1853 in Nuremberg. The collection is part of a trilogy with keyboard music, a major combined print of time. Its value lies in the placement of improvised technique of ornamentation of the late 16th century. The dance versions offered here are equally suitable for interpretation by string or wind ensembles.
