Steffen Trekel (Hülsenbeck)

Steffen Trekel is one of the outstanding mandolin players our time. He studied mandolin with Detlef Tewes and at the Cologne Music Academy with Prof. Marga Wilden-Hüsgen and has won numerous national and international competitions. While traveling, he joined as a soloist, on and in various chamber ensembles and with famous orchestras. They led him through many countries worldwide. Since 1995, Steffen Trekel has been a lecturer for mandolin and methodology at the Hamburg Conservatory and teaches at the Music School Kreis Herzogtum Lauenburg both mandolin, as well as early music education and instrument carousel. Together with guitarist Heike Krugman he heads since 2003 a “plucking class” with mandolin and guitar at the elementary school Wentorf.
