Matthias Georg Monn

Matthias Georg Monn lived in Vienna from 1717 to 1750. Little is known about his short life. In the monastery of Klosterneuburg he was listed as a singer in 1731/32 and from about 1738 he was organist at the Karlskirche. Monn is considered to be one of the trend-setting composers of the pre-classical period in the Viennese cultural area. His works still bear the elements of the gallant-sensitive musical era, but already point the way to Viennese classical music. ...
