Marlo Strauß

Marlo Strauss was born in 1957 in Chemnitz, at the age of nine he started playing guitars. As an electric guitarist, he was a member of several bands, e.g. Ina Deter Band, guitarist in Theater of Cologne and in radio plays for WDR Cologne. He studied guitar, mandolin and music education at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne. Since 1978 he has worked as a teacher and is nowadays teaching at the Music Academy Eupen (B). In 1985 he specialized as a soloist and ensemble player on historical plucked instruments. From 1991 to 2007 he was correpetitor at the Cologne University of Music and 2004 founding member of the Lute-Consort CAPELLA AQUISGRANA in Aachen. In 2009 he was winner of the Herbert-Baumann composition competition. He composed works for mandolin, guitar and mandolin-orchestra and is author of numerous articles and reviews at home and abroad.
