Marianne Verpoest

was born in 1958 in Antwerp. In 1991, she completed her studies of the mandolin at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Antwerp and won first prizes in the fields of chamber music, musical theory and harmonica. In the following years she attended courses with Professor V. Hladky, Professor Marga Wilden-Hüsgen, Keith Harris and others. Until the spring of 2001 she was the concertmaster of the “Brasschaats Mandoline Orkest” and played in various symphonic orchestras. Together with guitarist Myriam Bogaerts, she played in the duo from 2000 to 2010. A lively concert activity led them both through Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and France. In 2006, Marianne Verpoest received the third prize of the Herbert Baumann composition competition for her composition High Voltage (Pan KM 2127), presented by the Verein Musikforum Schweinfurt.

Until 2010, she taught the subjects of mandolin, ensemble and chamber music at the Music Academy in Antwerp and performed as an interpreter of contemporary music with particular interest in the works of Belgian composers. Since 2010, she has been living in Argentina, where she is voluntarily volunteering.
