Linus David

Born in Uster (Canton of Zurich) and raised there. Federal Matriculation at the Einsiedeln Cathedral school in 1955. Private tuition in piano, organ, singing and theory; later choir conducting. 1955-1960 Study of Theology and degree in Chur. Organist at the Seminary church St. Luzi there from 1956-1960.
From 1960 (beside extensive pastoral activities) study of musicology at Zurich University.
1963-1966 Choirmaster at the St. Laurentius church in Winterthur.
1966-1982 Professor for church music at the Theological Faculty in Chur.
1974 Federal expert at the Academy for school and church music ASK in Lucerne.
1976 Choirmaster at St. Konrad’s church in Zurich, and music journalist in Lucerne (“Luzerner Neueste Nachrichten”; since 1996 “Neue Luzerner Zeitung”).
Member of the working commisiion for the „Gotteslob“ (published in 1975) and the Swiss Catholic Hymn Book (pub. 1998). Member of the board of the ecumenical association “Neues Singen in der Kirche” (NSK) and up to 1996 of the Central Switzerland section of the International Society for New Music (ISNM).
Three volumes of religious poetry (Lahn-Verlag Limburg).
Lived in Lucerne.
