Johann Conrad Schlick

Johann Konrad Schlick was born in Münster in 1759. He got his first job in the local episcopal chapel. During a concert tour he was recruited as a chamber musician and secretary by the Duke of Gotha. Schlick was married to the famous violinist and guitarist Regina Strinasacchi. On their annual concert tours – Schlick was also a cellist – they made music together, including in Leipzig in the Gewandhaus. Schlick died in Gotha in 1825.
The composer Schlick wrote concerts for himself and his wife, but also numerous chamber music works for string quartet and quintet as well as a concerto for violoncello and orchestra.
