Henrik (Enrico) Rung

Henrik (Enrigo) Rung was a gifted Danish composer. He composed operas, musical comedies and songs. 1871 in the year when Henrik died, together they composed a collection of 8 Duos (original title of the collection: “Duets”) for mandolin and guitar. The compositions of father and son take turns in it, but are numbered consecutively. The sequence of duets has been retained in this issue, but not the numbers.
The titlepage of the manuscript shows the spelling of the name in a different form than the Danish spelling and has been retained for this Urtextausgabe. Nowadays the manuscript is in possession of the Royal Library in Copenhagen, and it is an important and interesting connection in the literature for both instruments. Although the pieces were composed in 1871, at the time the Tremolo developed to the main technique of the mandolin, no tremolo is required.
