Hansruedi Willisegger

Hansruedi Willisegger was born in Ettiswil (Canton of Lucerne). Primary schoolteacher’s degree. Subsequently musical studies in Lucerne, Zurich and Basle. Diplomas: conducting and organ (Dr. h.c. J.B. Hilber / Josef Bucher / Rudolf Sidler). School music. Teaching and concert diplomas piano (Hubert Harry). Theory (Robert Blum).
Further studies: composition (Albert Jenny / Robert Blum / Klaus Huber). Courses in improvisation, dance, pantomime, musical didactics.
Activities: primary schoolteacher, then teacher at the teachers’ training college in Hitzkirch. Teacher for piano at the Lucerne Conservatoire. Teacher for dance and improvisation at the Lucerne Academy for school and church music.
Founder and director of the mixed choir Emmenbrücke and the “Luzerner Singer”. Co-founder of the Swiss Federation Cantat SFEC, vice-president and president. Founder and director of the Lucerne Easter courses for dance and the performing arts. Vice-president and president of the Swiss Association for Musical Pedagogy (SMPV), Lucerne section. President of the national and international choral associations. Co-author of several publications on musical pedagogy. Concerts as conductor, pianist and organist at home and abroad.
Awards: several national and international prizes with the “Luzerner Singer”. Prizes for vocal and instrumental compositions. Merit Award (1972) and Art Prize (1989) of the City of Lucerne.
