Sonic Roots – Wurzelklänge Book 5 for 1-2 flutes and piano

This collection was inspired by a whole series of role models: folk dances from Celtic sources – airs, jigs, slip jigs, hornpipes, country dances, reels, strathspeys, highland flings; and Helvetic country music (Schottisch, Waltzes, Zwiefach, Chüereiheli, Jüüzli) from remote places such as the Gruyère, the Vals valley, the Appenzell Alpstein, and the Muotathal in Central Switzerland. Helvetia was an ancient area of Celtic culture, and proofs of this are still discernable today. To make these sonic roots audible is one of the principal goals of this work.
